Matt Preston and Coles Team Up for a Heartwarming Christmas Appeal to Support SecondBite
In a cheerful Melbourne breakfast gathering, Preston applauded the relentless efforts of all the staff and volunteers, whose unwavering commitment has been a lifeline for many community members during 2023. This grand launch serves not only as a fundraiser but also as a thank you to these dedicated individuals for their service.
How You Can Spread the Joy
Demonstrating the spirit of the holidays, shoppers are invited to partake in the noble Coles SecondBite Christmas Appeal by selecting a $2 donation card at Coles supermarkets until the night before Christmas, or opting to make a donation of any amount at the register. The festive opportunity also extends to donations up until December 5th at Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market, and Vintage Cellars outlets.
The proceeds from this campaign will embolden SecondBite in their mission — to salvage surplus, wholesome food that might otherwise be wasted and deliver it to local organizations who ensure it reaches those in need.
Additionally, Coles announces the generous donation of 2,000 Christmas hams to foster festive meals across community functions, complemented by a staggering contribution of one million meals by Cadbury Australia, spreading sweetness and good cheer.
A Dollar, A Difference
Preston encapsulates the effort, “Every dollar raised is a step towards togetherness and sustenance. A mere $2 can transform into ten meals, a small act that ripples into a wave of nourishment.” His passion for SecondBite goes beyond the meals; it’s about fostering a community and minimizing food waste.
Matt Swindells, Coles’ Chief Operations and Sustainability Officer, beams with pride over the collaboration, emphasizing the critical support this appeal provides, accelerating SecondBite’s initiatives such as food transport and refrigeration infrastructure.
A partnership that began in 2011 between SecondBite and Coles has flourished into a movement that has contributed over 220 million meals to the underprivileged, with more than $37 million raised, and the promise of continued support for the Australian community.
