Pixel Expo
On august 5th and 6th we attended pixel expo level 2 (second year running), it was a great event bringing together the gaming community both video games, card trading games and tabletop games. We highly recommend attending next year (phase 3) if you or your children are interested in the gaming community.
This was our first year attending, we attended child free as I volunteered and Michael being the more avid gamer wanted to check everything out (like a kid in a toy or lollie shop), although we attended child free it was great to see so many kids in attendance some even wearing matching family cosplays.
There were a lot of talented artists and businesses to check out in the traders hall, as well as learn to play trading card games and tabletop games, also Idols and cosplay competitions to watch in the theater, and workshops from local game developers and content creators/streamers.
Michael really liked meeting the creator and team behind a new geocaching scavenger hunt trading card game Geopals that he recently started collecting, participating in a learn to play session of Dungeons and dragons and sitting and having a paint of some local 3d printed miniature tabletop game characters (the bards table)
Michael and I both really enjoyed pixel quest, a scavenger hunt around the pixel spaces and designed to make sure you saw all the different things on offer.
Although there wasn’t a lot I personally wanted to do, I did buy a few things and discovered some local artists I will buy from in the future. Sadly the activities I wanted to check out clashed with my volunteering times, hopefully i will have opportunities in the future to check out the event as a patron
