Hey there, awesome parents and educators! The Women’s Health in the South East (WHISE) team is on a cheerful mission this 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, and they’re inviting children to join a meaningful conversation about respect and gender equality.
As we all want to nurture a generation of kind, respectful humans, teaching our little ones about respect and gender equality is not just important; it’s vital for their personal growth, social development, and for weaving the fabric of a caring community. And guess what? WHISE is not alone on this quest!
In a heartwarming initiative, WHISE teamed up with the talented local designer, Nea Valdivia, to craft a heartwarming activity toolkit for kids. The toolkit is adorned with illustrations that speak volumes about inclusivity, diversity, respect, and the power of collaboration.
Excitingly, the #16DAYS4KIDS toolkit isn’t just about colouring; it’s about starting heartfelt conversations with our kids about their views on respect and the communities they’d love to grow up in. This inspiring toolbox is now a treasure trove embraced by educators, teachers, librarians, parents, and the larger community.
During an endearing visit to St Kilda & Balaclava Kindergarten, kids were showered with loving questions like: “Do we all like the same sports?” Their adorable, collective “No” blossomed into an enriching conversation acknowledging our beautiful differences.
The world observes the 16 Days of Activism starting from 25 November, thriving till 10 December. The campaign is a beacon of hope, beaming a spotlight on the impact of violence, particularly on women, and engraves upon our hearts the power of human rights.
Kit McMahon, the visionary CEO of WHISE, enlightens us, saying “Gender-based violence stems from deep-seated gender inequality and a myriad of oppressions. Awareness is the dawn before action, and we firmly believe in a world without gendered violence.” WHISE’s dream is to see this vision turn into our beautiful reality.
The compassionate hearts at WHISE will grace kindergartens throughout the Southern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne during the campaign, sharing love and wisdom. As a beacon for women’s health, WHISE is a chorus of voices advocating for gender equity, delving into research, launching health initiatives, and enhancing the delivery of women’s health services.
So dear readers, shall we join hands and hearts with WHISE and make the world sparkle with respect and kindness? Let’s doodle a future where our children embody love, equality, and strength united in respect. For more twinkles of wisdom, hop on to the WHISE website.
