From January 10 through February 4, 2024, they present an electrifying contemporary musical – The Hello Girls.

In a rousing narrative steeped in history, The Hello Girls transports us back to 1918, amidst the US Army in Europe. It unfolds the remarkable tale of a courageous band of American women who served as bilingual telephone operators during World War I. Their dedication and service, which ultimately saw them recognized as the US Army’s first female soldiers, had long been overlooked, making their story a potent symbol of gender equality in the military.
Artistic Director of Heart Strings Theatre Co, Ylaria Rogers, shares her excitement, saying, “It’s a piece about women’s history, which was completely erased by men. Strong, funny and relevant, this piece feels like a call to arms to anyone who has ever felt left behind, forgotten, and unacknowledged for the part they play in this world.”
Developed with support from the Canberra Theatre Centre’s New Works and Sector Development Program, this production celebrates the artistic talents within the ACT community. After a successful premiere at The Playhouse, Canberra Theatre Centre, in September 2023, the stellar cast featuring Rhianna McCourt, Kira Leiva, and many more, are ready to energize and inspire with their performances.
